Overview

Alpine design reinterpreted.

Gillian Segal Design led the new construction of this property in Whistler, B.C. The client’s goal was to create a home with a distinct sense of place that felt contemporary while maintaining warmth and character. Carefully crafted details and material selection were at the forefront of the design process. Pine tongue and grove ceilings emphasized by fir beams (stained in an unexpected colour) helped to provide mountainous context while aged limestone floors, venetian plaster and leathered granite contribute a softness and patina that would continue to age beautifully with little maintenance. Distinctive and timeless, the client plans to use this property for family retreats for generations to come.
